The National Association of Realtors recently released their national and regional summary of home sales statistics.
You can read their report above. Essentially what they conclude is that, based on what they are looking at, the market is getting close to a plateau. That, I think, would make everyone happy.
It is great to speak in generalization- in other words, about the whole country- but it means more to the local buyer or seller to read about local information. How can you make the most important decision of your life without the best information guiding you?
Here are local stats for you based on data that we took from our MLS (deemed reliable but not guaranteed, according to them).
As you can see, home prices in most areas are at or below where they were in 2003. Number of units sold is far below the peak reached in the mid-decade, but in most cases better than the year just prior.
