Breweries that offer Tours in Massachusetts

We write about a lot of family-oriented day trips. Here is a post for the over 21 year old set.

Breweries are interesting places to visit. Here are a couple that are close by, and a few that are the best-of-the-best:

Wachusett Brewing, Westminster MA: Tours are Wednesday and Thursday noon -4, Friday and Saturday noon-5 (last tour leaves an hour before the end time). Call 978-874-9965 x21 for reservations.

Gardner Ale House does not offer tours, but you can eat there, they have entertainment, and of course sample their brews. Check out their calendar here.

Lowell Beer Works does not offer tours either, but look at the beer they serve. Open Sunday through Thursday 11:30 am to midnight, Friday and Saturday 11:30 am to 1:00.

Samuel Adams Brewery Tours, 30 Germania Street, Boston, MA 02130  - Listed on 1000 Great Places in Massachusetts. Tour hours are Monday – Thursday 10 am until 3 pm; Fridays 10 am until 5:30 pm, and Saturdays 10 until 3. Exceptions are noted on their site.

Harpoon Brewery, 306 Northern Avenue, Boston, MA 02210 – Weekend tours ($5 ) – Saturday 10:30 am until 5 pm, Sundays 11:30 am until 3 pm. Tasting on weekdays.

Cape Ann Brewing Company, Gloucester MA – free tours, brew house and food too! Call for hours.
