There is nothing like diner food. We are lucky to have several in the central MA area – they vary in types of food and ambiance, but they are always a trip.
Leominster’s Tim’s Diner at 14 Water Street is a local gem. It has made the Retro Roadmap Top Ten Diners of Massachusetts list (<—-great read, by the way – follow the link), and Yelp! has some nice things to say. On the list to check out!
Don’s Diner is local to Leominster too. With a Yelp! rating of 4.5 stars, it is also a good bet. You can see some more customer comments on their Facebook page.
Mario’s Homefield Diner, 192 Hamilton St., Leominster – 3.5 stars on Yelp! From a review:
Nice little hometown diner and I thought the food and service was great. Our waitress kept filling our coffee I was worried she was going to waste it! Granted it was simple diner food, but it was good, better than some other places I’ve been in town.
Gene Collette’s Fitchburg Airport Restaurant, open 7:00 am to 2:00 pm. Brief menu available online, but there are daily specials. According to Yelp!, great hashbrowns.
Heard some good things about the Blue Moon Diner in Gardner – open 7 days a week at 6:00 AM.
Rosebud Diner in Somerville – also made the Top 10 list, but I would go there just because of how cool it looks.
One thing to be careful about – some of these places do not accept credit cards, so call ahead to check.
