Moving, de-cluttering, or otherwise keeping your neighbors from suggesting a guest spot on Hoarders for you? Freecycle is a great idea. From their site:
Welcome! The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 5,035 groups with 8,917,299 members around the world. It’s a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It’s all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by local volunteers (them’s good people). Membership is free. To sign up, find your community by entering it into the search box above or by clicking on ‘Browse Groups’ above the search box. Have fun!
The closest one to Leominster that operates out of the Freecycle site is tagged Shirley, but there is Leominster activity on there. You can post requests for items that you want, or items that are looking for a new home. Great to be able to do some good, and keep the landfills from filling up at the same time!
Today (04/17/2012), some samples of activity are offers to freecycle china cabinets, old windows and 1.5 inch binders, and among the items wanted are a tent and Pergo flooring.
Got to move things a little more quickly? Call a company like http://www.1800gotjunk.com/ - they recycle, too.
